What is PVC?
PVC, also known as Poly-Vinyl Chloride, is a plastic made of 57% chlorine and 43% carbon (derived from oil or gas). PVC was accidentally discovered several times in history in the early 1800’s but it was not widely utilized until the BF Goodrich company found a multitude of applications for the material. PVC can be found in flooring, clothing, water pipes, wiring, inflatables and building materials. PVC is a great exterior building material because of its natural resistance to oxidation. This makes the compound long lasting and durable in extreme outdoor conditions.
